Introducing some of our other speakers:

Cathy Sherry, Assoc Prof, UNSW is a leading Australian expert on strata and community title.  She provides advice to government and the private sector on the complexities of collectively-owned property.  Cathy has a special interest in urban farming and the challenges of providing growing space in high density cities.  For the conference Cathy will be tackling the difficulties of managing and living in a mixed use development.
Peter Cutajar is solicitor with more than 25 years experience in property and finance. He has participated in various property, finance and risk management seminars around Australia and has been a contributor to many real estate topics. He has assisted many property purchasers and property developers in their success over the last two decades. 
Peter will be looking at the perennial problems associated with Off the Plan transactions and common traps to avoid.

Kathy Townsend (OFT) has worked in the NSW Government in a variety of roles and is currently the Director Industry Support, Real Estate & Property at NSW Fair Trading. You may have heard her on Fair Trading's weekly radio spot on 2UE discussing the latest in fair trading news and answering caller questions. 
Kathy will be talking about licensing, compliance and enforcement and the issues that NSW Fair Trading work with in relation to conveyancing professionals.

Ryan Shelley holds a degree from the University of Sydney in Engineering, specialising in electronic commerce. He has over fifteen years’ experience working in boutique and consulting roles including NASDAQ, working with his clients to bolster their online presences.  As a highly regarded social media expert, Ryan works with the likes of ABC News and Marie Claire and is regular commentator on social media strategy.
Ryan will discuss the role of Social Media in the modern business and how its appropriate and professional use can be asset.

Justen Nixon (ATO) joined the ATO in 2007 and is a Senior Technical Advisor in the ATO’s Tax Counsel Network, with a focus on private business structures and banking and finance issues.  Justen’s professional experience includes previous roles as a Director in the ATO’s Public Groups & International business line and a secondment to the Department of Treasury as a policy analyst in the International Tax Unit.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Professional Accounting and a Master of Laws. He was admitted as a solicitor in NSW in 2008.
Justen will be covering the FRCGT withholding provisions and associated issues frequently encountered by practitioners.

Tony Cahill is a perennial favourite amongst our speakers. He has been involved in redrafts of the Contract for Sale and Purchase of Land since the 1992 edition, and the Contract for the Sale of Business since the 2000 edition. Tony currently serves on the Law Society’s Property Law and Environmental Planning and Development Committees.

Tony will be discussing the new Conveyancing (Sale of Land) Regulation and Contract for Sale & Purchase of Land.
